The Great AI Academic Scandal In Northern University

As anyone who follows here, will know that I have a love all things technology related. I think, personally AI is one of the greatest innovations in computing, probably since the internet itself. I do think also a lot of AI is over-hyped. It's a buzzword. nano, organic electronics, MEMS etc. However, it is one that seems to deliver unlike perhaps compared to organic electronics. However, call a spade a spade, not an AI digging implement generated for removal of soil. It is a spade.

The other thing you will know, is that I have a specific dim view often of many areas of the establishment. One such area is Academic Abuse. I was therefore interested to read an article (source), about how students are en-mass using AI to do their work. Take into account that certainly at this particular university there are mass problems, that are well documented. The abuse towards students by racist academic staff. Bullying of staff and students. Inappropriate Male behaviour towards female students, staff being told to kill themselves when asking for help, staff missing lectures while performing alleged acts in their office. Stealing of property belonging to staff. Serious health and safety misconduct and so on. Poor courses, massaging of results. Being millions in debt down to alleged staff doing nothing down to some ego-god complex. Again my belief is this is mere tip of iceberg, and no place should be above the moral and legal law.

Returning to the AI, before I write pages on the university, it is no surprise. Firstly, if there is a tool out there to help people will use it. Of course, this university did not sign up to use anti AI techniques. You might ask why ? Well this is down to what I believe are morals within the Academic staff. Certainly, they are quite happy to steal colleagues work and publish it. Then when its investigated, they purely say no they didn't and the publisher just goes - "ok we believe you as you have said this". Also, it is fairly obvious that many "Academic Staff" are of low quality. It would not be surprising to find that they have no moved on from wikipedia to ChatGPT for a large amount of their work outcomes.

Cheating in Education

There are as well the actual offers students get from "businesses" to churn out their reports, dissertations and thesis. So it is no surprise any of this at all. What would be interesting is to look at the research and PhD side of things, which was already broken and in my opinion corrupt, and see how AI has influenced that. It would not surprise me if people go in day 1 of the PhD, ask AI to write a PhD on their work and then hand it in 4 years later.

Maybe this is me being a cynic, or maybe i am right ? who knows... what is obvious is that this dilutes the worth of university certification.
